"Having worked alongside John for almost twenty years, I witnessed at first hand his contribution to growing a Lean Manufacturing mindset at Lake Region Medical. John's brings a practical sensibility to the application of lean tools and systems, and his passion & enthusiasm for lean is infectious”.
“John is a highly respected CI professional with >20
years' experience driving transformation change in both operations and
maintenance functions. In 2009 John developed a close partnership with Toyota
Deeside, Wales which transformed Lake Region Medical's Maintenance System and
resulted in a 28% increase in Overall Equipment Effectiveness. John
subsequently introduced systems across the Lake Region Medical group to capture
front line associates tacit knowledge of their equipment and establish employee
responsibility for the maintenance of all key production assets”.
It has been my pleasure and privilege to work with John since we first met back in April 2005 when I helped Lake Region Manufacturing with the introduction and ongoing sustainment of their TPM program.
At the time John was their Maintenance Manager but within a year he was promoted to TPM Champion for the site. This proved to be an inspired choice by the site leadership team, not only due to John’s engaging passion for the TPM enabling tool, but also with his in-depth technical and engineering knowledge.
With this solid foundation of TPM in place, the site went on to achieve the prestigious Shingo Award™ in 2012.
Of course, this was a team effort, but John was- and still is -very much a key influencer and team player.
John graduated with his Lean Enterprise Research Centre MSc in March 2010-Again it was my privilege to be asked by John to ‘sense check’ his chosen dissertation subject of TPM.
When it comes to TPM, John is very definitely in my top 5% of Facilitators’.
Asset Management is an integral
component of Enterprise Excellence and John Bolger played an integral part in
Integer (formerly Lake Region
Medical) achieving the coveted Shingo
Prize Accreditation. The first medical device organisation in Europe and the first
organisation in Ireland to receive such a coveted honour. John’s knowledge and
attention to detail in the field of Asset Management and in the application of
Enterprise Excellence principles, culture & goals is the highlight of
John’s many competencies. John’s knowledge sharing willingness and ability in
relaying his vast experience to over 500 organisations that visited Integer
over the last number of years is a testament to John’s contribution to Ireland
having the highest number Shingo Prize accreditation’s in the world.
"John and I have been companions together on the continuous improvement journey for more than twenty years across two different multinational medical device manufacturing organisations. During his career with Lake Region Medical John was a key player in what has been variously called World Class Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance, AMIS, Shingo, etc. John's great strength was his practical application of the theory at the shop floor level with product builders, machine operators and maintainers. He championed the use of data collection and analysis in driving informed decisions from the bottom up, empowering teams to take ownership of their own continuous improvement journey. His legacy is leaving a cohort of front-line employees with the skills and confidence to identify and eliminate waste and to take on a significant share of equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, which helped deliver world class performance in equipment performance, quality and efficiency”.
In today's highly competitive environment, implementing a lean culture in your business has never been more important.
